Why not give straight to candidates?
Because it's illegal. Federal law bars companies from contributing to federal candidates or party committees. What companies can do is support independent-expenditure committees and social welfare nonprofits, which run ads, register voters, and turn people out. That's where our giving goes, and every group we support will be listed by name.
